Department of Clinical Pathology

HISTORY DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL PATHOLOGY

In the period before World War II , when the hospital was named Centrale Burgerlijke Ziekeninrichting ( CBZ ) has had a clinical laboratory . Existing laboratory at that time was still very simple and is a small part of the Department of Internal Medicine . Laboratory capabilities at the time , still limited to the examination of hematology , urine , feces , and some simple checks such as checking chemical levels of urea , bilirubin and blood sugar . Other tests such as bacteriological and serological carried out in the Laboratory Health Center ( another name for the Eijkman Institute ) that is located adjacent to the hospital .

The desire to plan a more sophisticated laboratory and modern and can serve clinicians by offering a variety types of examinations in the field of clinical chemistry , hematology laboratory , clinical bacteriological and serological , constrained by the cost and the lack of staff who really devote energy and thoughts without being burdened by other tasks in the clinic .

In 1955 , came the bright spots for realizing these ideals with diawalinya collaboration between the University of Indonesia, University of California , sponsored by the ICA (International Corporation Agency ) who then called the USAID ( United States Agency for International Development ) . USAID helped sponsor the construction of the Clinical Laboratory and shortly thereafter , the name was changed to The Clinical Laboratory of Clinical Pathology that is part of the Faculty of Medicine and RSCM .

In 1960 , a team of Americans who have served in rotation in Clinical Pathology Section began to leave Indonesia . Since then , all work on Section of Clinical Pathology handled by the Indonesian people themselves .
