Overview
Advanced Diabetes Center (ADC) Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo National General Hospital is a superior service that was established in March 2023. The Advanced Diabetes Center was inaugurated by the Minister of Health as a form of health transformation in the field of diabetes mellitus. Advanced Diabetes Center applies the concept of one-stop service for diabetes patients and is expected to become a reference for other diabetes service centers in Indonesia. The services provided are integrated, comprehensive and collaborate with various patient-centered disciplines in accordance with applicable national and international guidelines. The patient will meet with a specialist in endocrine, metabolic and diabetes consultant internal medicine for an in-depth assessment of the disease, blood sugar control, the presence of comorbidities such as hypertension, cholesterol disorders, obesity and diabetes complications. Patients will be given treatment to achieve good metabolic control and prevent disease progression.
Apart from medicines, patients are also given education about diabetes, nutrition, physical activity patterns, blood glucose monitoring and others, by a team of diabetes educators. If necessary, the patient will be consulted with other related specialist doctors, for example cardiologists, kidney experts, nerves, eyes, surgery, clinical nutrition, psychiatry, medical rehabilitation or others. It is hoped that by controlling various metabolic factors such as blood sugar, blood pressure, body weight and cholesterol levels of patients, as well as regular screening for diabetes complications, diabetes patients can have a good quality of life and avoid worsening of the disease.
Patient management is carried out in one service center located at the Advanced Diabetes Center, Kanigara Building with a friendly and comfortable service concept. A year after being founded, now all the specialists needed to manage diabetes and its complications are available. The diabetes educator team consisting of trained nurses, nutritionists and pharmacists is ready to serve patients. Facility services for early detection of complications also continue to be developed, such as services for early detection of diabetic feet, diabetic kidney disorders, retinal nerve disorders, as well as ultrasound services for the heart and digestive tract including the liver. The Advanced Diabetes Center provides consultation rooms, education rooms, exercise ( gymnastics ) rooms, foot care rooms, as well as rooms for examinations of diabetes complications such as examinations of the eyes, heart, nerves, feet, liver and body composition.
Over the past year, more than half of diabetes patients at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo National General Hospital succeeded in achieving the blood sugar control target (HbA1C <7). This achievement continues to increase until it reaches 60% by the end of 2023, better than the national average achievement (30%). This shows that diabetes services at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo National General Hospital has service excellence and continues to increase service capacity to provide a better quality of life for patients.
