Stone Free Rate
Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) therapy has been significantly successful in treating kidney stones in patients with stones measuring less than 2 cm. With the success rate at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo reaches 80.8% in 2023, this procedure shows its effectiveness in achieving results of no residual stones after the procedure. These results emphasize the important role of ESWL as an effective therapeutic option to treat kidney stones in patients with relatively small stone sizes. This success provides hope for patients through a relatively non-invasive therapeutic alternative with satisfactory results in the removal of kidney stones.
In PCNL cases, all patients with non-staghorn stones treated using PCNL achieved 100% stone free results . This reflects the highest success rate of the PCNL procedure in treating non-staghorn kidney stones. These successes highlight the effectiveness of PCNL as a highly efficient and effective method in treating cases of non-staghorn kidney stones, offering a powerful solution for patients who require intervention for this condition.
Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) procedures in 2023 will be 91 cases, while ESWL procedures will be 115 cases (an increase of 16.1% from 2022). Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery (RIRS) procedures will increase by 36% in 2023 to 68 cases.
Length of treatment after PCNL surgery
It was found that 94% of all patients who underwent PCNL surgery without complications and without comorbid conditions had a hospital stay of no more than 3 days. This shows that the majority of patients can go home within a relatively short time after surgery, indicating a good and efficient recovery rate. Fast healing and without complications is desirable in post-operative care, and this high rate shows the effectiveness of the PCNL procedure in treating kidney stones without causing significant complications. It also highlights the importance of careful post-operative monitoring to ensure that the patient recovers well and can return to normal activities as quickly as possible.
