Overview

 

The Blood Transfusion Unit (UTD) is a unit whose duties and functions are to carry out the process of providing blood for transfusion for patients at the Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo National General Hospital and in future plans will also provide drop-offs to other hospitals in need. Services at the Blood Transfusion Unit include organizing blood donations, checking for Infections Transmitted Through Blood Transfusion (IMLTD), checking blood types, processing and storing components and distributing blood.

 

The Blood Transfusion Unit was established in 2020 and began its services with thrombopheresis donor services in March 2021, then in April 2022 whole blood donor services began , both those carried out in the UTD RSCM donor room and those carried out outside the UTD RSCM or better known as The term mobile unit is carried out in offices, places of worship, shopping centers, schools/campuses, and others that meet the standards for blood donation services.

 

 


 

 

RSCM Blood Transfusion Unit Service Capabilities:

 

  1. Processing whole blood obtained from the blood donation process into blood components constitutes at least 80% of the proceeds obtained.

  2. Receive blood donation services outside the UTD RSCM/ mobile unit to respond to requests from several government/private agencies that carry out social activities to help provide blood.

  3. Producing fresh frozen plasma and cryoprecipitate with or without leukocyte depletion ( leukodepleted ) process.

  4. Carry out the process of providing blood with an apheresis machine (such as platelets, plasma and other necessary components).

  5. Carrying out screening tests for infections transmitted through blood transfusion (IMLTD) using the Nucleic Acid Amplification Technology method (NAT).

  6. Carrying out confirmatory checks on donors' ABO and Rhesus blood groups using automated methods.

  7. Perform antibody screening and identification using the slide/tube/gel/automatic method.

  8. Carrying out pre-transfusion examinations using automated methods.

  9. Carry out bacterial contamination tests.

  10. Serves blood screening test referrals for IMLTD, blood group serology cases and blood transfusion reaction cases in the laboratory using referral links with KSM and related units at Dr. National Hospital. Cipto Mangunkusumo .

  11. Organizing education and training in the field of blood services.

  12. Carrying out research and research collaboration with PPDS in refining blood service technology for applications that suit needs.

  13. Carrying out pathological blood collection/phlebectomy (such as polycythemia vera, several disorders associated with an increase in the number of blood components).

  14. Providing special blood for transfusion, for example leukodepletet, irradiation, autologous.

  15. Provision of plasma raw materials for recombinant plasma derivative products (IVIG, albumin, Factor VIII, Factor IX from blood clotting and others).
